Important tips for students who will travel to Germany first time

  • 3

Important tips for those students who will travel to Germany first time:

-Don’t bring anyone’s stuff with you to avoid problems at the airport.

-Also, don’t take any stuff from any known or unknown person at the airport.

-Don’t bring extra sweets (mithai) with you. Just bring 2-3 kg maximum.

-Don’t bring restricted items. You can check the list of restricted items on the website of your chosen airline.

– Leave a set of photocopies of important documents back home. Plus, give one set to a responsible person (mother/father/brother) at your home.

-Also, keep all scanned copies of all your documents on a flash drive or computer as well.

-Write your name, address (Home country+Germany/if you have), and phone number on a page and put it in your luggage. If you will lost your luggage then this address will help authorities to return your luggage.

-Always keep all Original Documents in your hand-carry and copies in your luggage.

-Also keep photocopies of your passport, visa sticker, CNIC, and admission letter in your hand carry.

-Keep your credit card (if you have it) in a safe place and better to cover it with Credit Card Protection Cover.

-Keep cash in your inner or safe pocket and always check it after security check.

-DON NOT KEEP your luggage at the airport in your home country or in Germany out of your sight. DO NOT PUT YOUR Handbags on the side but in front of you. DO NOT TRUST anyone at the airport.

-Always lock (with small locks) excessive pockets of your hand luggage.

-Always ask at check-in where you will get your booked luggage? At the final destination or at transit. If they say at last destination (Germany) then it’s ok. If they say at transit then must take your luggage at transit and book it again. And, again ask where you will get this luggage?

—LOST BAGGAGE—

-In case you lost your baggage at the airport do not PANIC and go directly to the airport authorities and report it.

-In case an airline loses your luggage then again don not panic and report it to airline staff, their counters, and at their helpline.

-In case you lost your baggage at Train/Bus/Taxi then immediately report it to the driver, their helpline, and help desk.

– After reaching Germany, register yourself at the portal of your country’s embassy. In this way, the embassy will locate you and inform your family in case of any problem.

-Pakistani students can register at this address after reaching Germany:
